Florida Grand Opera’s Studio Artist Program is a rigorous and rewarding opportunity for early-career artists. Recent participants in the program have usually accomplished some or all of the following career milestones:

• Completed a Bachelor or Master’s degree program in Vocal Performance.
• Participated in either pay-to-sing or professional summer festivals.
• Been selected for 1-2 year-long or non-summer residencies or studio programs at the professional level.
• Won or placed as a finalist for various vocal competitions.
• Sang leading operatic roles with collegiate or professional ensembles.

It is also important to note that United States citizens or US permanent residents are under primary consideration for the program. Students in the United States on temporary F-1 visas will generally not be given top consideration due to administrative constraints. Citizenship status will be requested for all applicants in the screening process.

The Studio Artist Program’s year-to-year curriculum has evolved through the years, but generally involves the experiences listed below:

• Extensive coaching with Florida Grand Opera music staff, visiting coaches, teachers, and conductors.
• Performance opportunities in principal roles as part of main stage performances in Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
• Opportunities to cover and study roles with a high degree of detail and thoroughness.
• Frequent community concert performances that reinforce a daily commitment to vocal excellence, including outreach performances for youth audiences.
• Career counseling and industry networking that leads to long-term engagement in the operatic industry.

Florida Grand Opera will be hosting auditions for the 2025-2026 Studio Artist Program this fall. Live auditions are offered in Miami and New York, based on the following overall schedule:

August-September 9, 2025: Apply for free via YAPTracker; afterwards applications are $20.00 per singer.

October 3: Applications deadline

October 17: Audition notices sent out

December 9-11: New York live auditions

December 16-17: Miami live auditions

Late Fall/Early Winter: Audition decisions sent out
