FGO launched a bold new chapter in 2024 under the leadership of General Director & CEO Maria Todaro and Board Chair Tina Vidal-Duart. Announced in The Miami Times as “Not Your Grandmother’s Opera,” Todaro’s appointment marked a cultural shift—and her debut season delivered. The company opened with a visually stunning, South Florida–made production of The Magic Flute, praised as “a monumental made-in-South Florida production”. 2024 initiatives included:

• Five new education programs engaging youth across South Florida
• The Vault, preserving FGO’s archives with MDC Wolfson Campus
• Social Entrepreneurship Department, addressing social issues through opera
• FGO Innovation Lab, launching projects like Opera + Reggae and MMA Opera
