Florida Grand Opera is proud to offer our Community Choir as a community engagement initiative — outside our regular season and programming, and open to everyone.
All ages. All levels. All styles. No audition required.
This is for people who have never sung a note, who were once told they couldn’t sing, who don’t read music — right alongside more experienced singers who simply want to be part of something fun and community-driven. There’s no equipment to bring and no cost to join; it’s completely free.
Together, we'll learn the basics of vocal technique, explore harmony singing, and try music across different styles, with occasional opportunities to perform for the community — like caroling during the holiday season.
There’s something genuinely transformative about singing in a group. Research consistently shows that singing together lowers stress hormones, releases endorphins and oxytocin, and builds a real sense of belonging — breathing and creating sound in sync with other people lifts the spirit in a way few other activities can. You don’t come to be perfect. You come for the joy of it, together.
We meet every Thursday at 6:00 PM at the FGO office space. Come as you are — come experience it for yourself.

Registration is open now. Prospective members may write to mtodaro@fgo.org to sign up or ask questions. Building access details will be emailed to registered participants ahead of the first rehearsal.
